Reforming Catalysts

Reforming Catalysts

Reforming Catalysts by TANAKA Precious Metals

Steam reforming catalysts generate hydrogen from hydrocarbons in natural gas (city gas), liquefied petroleum gas (propane gas), etc. Our reforming catalysts are utilized by many customers for various reforming reaction applications including for hydrogen that is supplied to fuel cells.

Compared to conventional products, TRC10 and TRC413 can greatly suppress carbon deposition.

Characteristics of propane reforming

TRC10-10A〔Ru〕

Propane reforming SV-dependence

Amount of H2 generated

Amount of CO generated

Both TRC413 and TRC10 exhibit strong propane reforming activity that is close to equilibrium composition.

In terms of low S/C, we have been also developing catalysts with improved C deposition resistance. Please contact us for details.

Effective Use of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide Gas Reforming)

Our reforming catalysts can be used to generate H2 and CO, the raw materials for chemicals and fuel, from carbon dioxide gas (CO2) and methane (CH4), which cause global warming.

Reaction formula: CH4 + CO2 + 4H2O → 6H2 + 2O2 + 2CO

Characteristics of carbon dioxide reforming

TRC10-24.5A〔Ru〕

H2 generation concentration, SV-dependence

CO generation concentration, SV-dependence

Note: These results are reference data from initial measurements that we performed.
They are not intended to be conditions for the actual machine.

H2 and CO synthesis gas close to equilibrium composition can be generated. Although the deposition of carbon thought to be due to a disproportionation reaction is noted in piping after passing through the catalyst, there is no carbon deposition on the catalyst.
