Precious metal wire 1/10 the thickness of a human hair ~What is bonding wire?~

Bonding wire is a type of metal wire used to electrically connect semiconductor chips to the electrodes of printed circuit boards. The main type used for this purpose is bonding wire made from gold and other materials that have been made into fine wires with a thickness measured in microns. Its thickness is about one-tenth that of a human hair. This bonding wire functions like the "nerves" that connect the brain and body in humans, and is installed in products that are essential to our daily lives.

Successfully developed Japan's first gold bonding wire

TANAKA ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. (hereinafter TD) was established on June 8, 1961, as a joint venture between TANAKA PRECIOUS METAL TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. and Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co., Ltd. At that time, TD began developing gold bonding wires for silicon transistors, which were the next-generation semiconductors of the time.
The decision to commercialize bonding wires was a significant one that would determine the fate of TD, which was still in its early days. The technical team involved in the development was a small elite group with a strong determination to
